I have heard this book is cheesy (Didnt know it was erotica until a friend of mine brought this up.... I thought it was a movie) but she said it was terrible, corny, and overall stupid, she also didnt like the male character, said he was stalkerish and creepy. I heard they are planning on making it into a movie though, I hate reading this so I probably never will, but  I tend to get attracted to mysterious guys, maybe to the point of stalker like (Like Edward in Twilight, not that I am a big fan of those movies) but I like the idea of it, It wouldnt scare me off, but I would want to be confronted sometime.

I'm clearly in the minority here, but I liked the Fifty Shades of Grey series of books. Were they well-written? Nope. Was the story predictable? Yep. The sexual content, while at first shocking, ended up moving to the background for me and the subtext of how Christian came to be who he was kept me reading. As for the overwhelming popularity of the books in the general population, I think it may have something to do with the desire to be totally consumed, loved, wanted by someone. People will overlook all manner of issues, i.e., bad writing, unbelievable characters, if there's a component that strikes a note with them.

This chick's reaction image and the quote pretty much sums it all up.

They've cast Ana according to Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: The coveted role of Anatasia Steele has gone to Dakota Johnson in the Universal Pictures and Focus Features adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey.

What do you all think about this casting news? I haven't read the book to have a real opinion.

Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam Cast as Leads in Fifty Shades of Grey

Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey have been waiting with baited breath to find out who would bring the erotic novel to life on the big screen.

Now, they know: On Monday, author E L James Tweeted, "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

The daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Johnson, 23, is a model-turned-actress who has been seen in The Social Network and the short-lived sitcom Ben and Kate.

Over the past year she was just one of the many names mentioned as being up for the coveted role.

Among the other possibilities were rumored to be Emma Watson, Shailene Woodley and Analeigh Tipton.

Less than an hour later, James also put speculation to rest about the male protagonist.

"The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," she Tweeted Monday.

Perhaps best known for his portrayal of Jackson "Jax" Teller on Sons of Anarchy, Hunnam, 33, also played Raleigh Becket in this summer's sci-fi adventure Pacific Rim.

I loved Emma Waston's response to the rumors.

So many actors have tried to distance themselves from this project. That is why I am surprised Dakota Johnson's parents let her take this role. It is glorified porn

What was Emma Watson's response?

The actress is 23 so I don't think there would be anything her parents could do to stop her from accepting the role. The role could either propel her to stardom or blacklist her from serious roles.

@EmWatson
Emma Watson
Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life.

Gotta love her

Not particularly excited by this casting. Although I haven't read the book, I have read enough around the net to know what the personality of the characters is.

And that guy...I just don't see him as a person who will fit that personality. It's the first time I'm hearing of him anyways.

I was told that they were considering Dianna Agron for 50 Shades Of Grey but something about her not being diverse enough to convey such a role? I don't know. I am glad she didn't do it anyway, because this movie is going to be as bad as the book.

I remember Charlie Hunman's Queer As Folk days, when he played Nathan Maloney, and he was in love with Stuart Jones. It is strange to think that he is playing this big buff sexy guy that everyone wants. He was good in Green street too.

Its essentially torture porn fanfic of a work which was already quite bad but seems to have somehow gained enough acceptance to have discussions about it on national television. People claim that these books have gotten a lot of people into reading books. If this is the kind of book that gets people to appreciate the written word, then thank you very much but we don't think people like that would increase the appreciation of books that deserve it in anyway. The literature world would be a better place without works like 50 Shades of Grey and to be frank, even the world of pornography would be too.

Oh and now they are making a movie on it? Oh the humanity!!

I love Charlie Hunnam.  I had no interest in this book until I saw that he was cast as Christian Gray.  So I started reading it.  I just got to the good part :) and now I read that Charlie pulled out of the project.  Hmmmm....

The book- yeah, it's poorly written.  Obviously predictable.  But man, it makes me want him!  And of course, I'm reading it picturing Jax there, so I want it more!

The movie, I'm sure I'll watch it.  Wish he was still doing it.  Not sure how they can make it true without it being porn.

Yes,apparently Charlie Hunnam pulled out of the movie.  The reason given is that he felt that his pressing schedule didn't make it possible for him to do justice to the character of Christian Grey.  Now some suspect though that he got cold feet about playing the role.  I can't really say I blame him if that is the case, lets face it the guy has an extremely popular career going does he really want to associate himself with this project, which could be something he could always have his name connected to.  Also, who knows if it would be in a good way.  Maybe it was best for him to pull out as he did.

I would say he is a smart man but a smart man wouldn' have attached their names to the project in the first place.

I also heard that Charlie pulled out of the Movie. I do not think that this part would have been him anyway, but I like his conviction. I don't think that he would have proved me wrong either in regards to him pulling off the role, but If he recognized that he wasn't going to be able to do it the more power to him for pulling out at the right time.

I think they are going to have a hard time recasting this movie. Casting agents is not looking for a new comer , and no veteran seasoned actor wants to take a chance of their film turning ii into another "Show Girls". Staring in this movie is gamble it could be a hit or a flop. The role is not paying much according to Hollywood standard.

Maybe they can go the unconventional route and cast pornstars in the movie. I doubt anyone else can truly do the roles 'justice' as far as this work is considered. :P

Lmao! From personal experience, I will say that most porn stars are terrible actors and actress. it is almost like they cannot wait to get their lines out of the way so that they can have some sex dammit lol.  SO I do not know how well it would work to get porn start to act the parts for the movie. I don't know if this movie even has that much interest in the first place. I know no one who wants to see this movie. Do you?
